#443 Proven packager request: Adam Williamson
Closed None Opened 13 years ago by adamwill.

As per http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Provenpackager_policy , I'm filing a ticket to request provenpackager status. Mostly I'd like this so I can help out with things like the current Python 2.7 migration: I wanted to help David get packages built against Python 2.7 as quickly as possible so we could be sure F14 Alpha process would go smoothly, but since I'm not a proven packager, I had to send cvs diffs to David to have him commit changes for me.

I have quite a lot of experience as a packager in Mandriva in the past, and I am familiar with the Fedora packaging rules; I packaged gst-mixer during the F12 cycle, I have review requests in for navit and libva, and I maintain the psb graphics driver (which is a fairly complex set of packages) in Fusion. I also have my own video-experimental repository with libva-related multimedia packages, which follows the Fedora packaging style - see http://www.happyassassin.net/2009/09/03/mplayer-va-api-vdpau-ffmpeg-mt-experimental-build-repository-for-fedora-11-rawhide/ .

Thanks!

Mailed sponsors for feedback.

There have been a number of +1 votes on the sponsors list, but also several -1 votes, which means it will go to the next fesco meeting.

Adam: The -1 votes have been due to you not maintaining many packages or being able to show you can do so. Perhaps it would be helpfull if you added here some of the pile of bugs you added patches to for the recent python2.7 rebuilds or links to those package patches?

Totem fix:

attaching gnome-python2-desktop fix.

You can see my xorg-x11-drv-psb package, for instance, here: http://cvs.rpmfusion.org/viewvc/rpms/xorg-x11-drv-psb/?root=nonfree

I do know what I'm doing, honest, guv. I'll take a test if you like. =)

py27 build 'fix' for g-p2-d (mostly just involved disabling stuff)

This package was approved at the 2010-08-03 meeting.

Congrats! Use your powers for good.
