I would like to make an update policy exception request for libdisplay-info. This package has a new version, 0.2.0, which is required for Plasma 6.3.
We checked the packages depending on it:
ngompa@fedora ~> sudo dnf rq --whatrequires libdisplay-info --qf "%{SOURCE_NAME}\n" Updating and loading repositories: Repositories loaded. dxvk-native gamescope hyprland kwin libdisplay-info mutter weston wlroots wlroots0.17
@ngompa says that rebuilding those reverse dependancies is not a problem.
This would also be a blocker to bring Plasma 6.3 into Fedora 40.

+1
Could we get a bit more information on what is changing and whether this is a trivial rebuild for all of those other packages or whether they will need patching to support it?
The fact that weston and mutter are on that list makes me hesitate. Has the Workstation WG been made aware of this?
weston
mutter
My understanding is that this is an ABI break and not an API break. F41 already has this version of libdisplay-info and everything builds fine.
libdisplay-info
But this can be tested in a COPR easily enough.
Here's verification that everything cleanly rebuilds with an updated libdisplay-info: https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/ngompa/libdisplayinfo-f40-testrebuild/builds/
F40 has about 5 months of life left, so I guess the update of Plasma makes sense.
After slightly more than a week, this is: APPROVED (+6, 0, 0)
