#3168 Provenpackager nomination for ksurma
Closed: Accepted a year ago by zbyszek. Opened a year ago by ksurma.

Hello,

I'd like to become a provenpackager. I take care of integration of Python 3.13 in Fedora together with @churchyard which happens in Copr now, but early summer it'll be moved to Koji side tag and require release bumps in all the affected packages.
This is my main motivation to ask for this privilege.

I've been a maintainer of Python packages for almost 3 years now.
I strongly prefer PR workflow to direct pushes, I added the @python-packagers-sig packages to Zuul CI and documented a piece of tribal knowledge reviewing Fedora dist git pull requests (https://github.com/fedora-python/pull-request-review-guide/blob/main/fedora-pr-review-guide.md; talk at Nest with Fedora 2022).

I touch many packages in my day-to-day maintainership, see:
https://src.fedoraproject.org/user/ksurma/
Koji builds: https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/userinfo?userID=5025

Whenever a potentially high impact update comes in, I cooperate closely with the other Fedora packagers: to test it and report the future failures, providing as much information as I can and in many cases fixing the affected packages.

I submitted a few Fedora Changes in the past:
- https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes/Prevent-Providing-python3dist(pkg)=0
- https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes/Sphinx4

I've read the Provenpackager policy and I will abide it.

I've sent a message to the sponsor list.

+1 from me

+1

I also clarify that the reasoning for this is legitimate.

You must get at least 3 positive votes from sponsors with no negative votes, over a one week review period, to be approved.

@ksurma has been added to provenpackager.

Welcome. Use your powers wisely :)
