#2797 Change proposal: Install Using GPT on x86_64 BIOS by Default
Closed: Accepted 2 years ago by zbyszek. Opened 2 years ago by bcotton.

This Change makes it so that Fedora Linux systems installed on legacy x86 BIOS systems will get GPT partitioning by default instead of legacy MBR partitioning. This makes x86 BIOS installs more similar to x86 UEFI installs.

Owners, do not implement this work until the FESCo vote has explicitly ended.
The Fedora Program Manager will create a tracking bug in Bugzilla for this Change, which is your indication to proceed.
See the FESCo ticket policy and the Changes policy for more information.

After seven days, the vote here is (+3, 0, -0), thus this Change is APPROVED.

I missed the vote, but I support this too. I think we should at least try. If it doesn't work, and there are too many unsolvable regressions, we can invoke the contingency mechanism.

("Too many regressions", and not just "regresssions". If we find some corner-cases in very old machines, I don't think this should be an automatic cause for a revert. If we find that this causes a problem with more frequently used hardware or systems, then probably yes.)
