#2716 F36 Change: Keylime subpackaging and agent alternatives
Closed: Accepted 2 years ago by tstellar. Opened 2 years ago by bcotton.

The keylime package will be split into subpackages per role (agent, registrar, verifier, and admin components), while allowing the alternative agent implementation in Rust.

I'm not sure how to go here, since my reply on the mailing list went unacknowledged/unanswered. I don't know if the Change authors even noticed it...

I started reviewing the new package for the Rust-based agent, but have not heard back from them for over a week: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2033294

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they are out of office, so I think we should just wait, for now.

Hi there; yeah, we were out of office for a couple of weeks and are just catching up with the emails now. @ueno should be back at https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2033294 briefly and thanks @ngompa for the helpful tips on the list.

The last status on the mailing list is "I will update the proposal to reflect your suggestion", so let's wait for the update and any subsequent discussion.

@scorreia please update the proposal so FESCo can proceed with this proposal.

Hello, yhe proposal has been updated according to the suggestions received on the mailing list. Thanks.

Both keylime-agent implementations, one written in Python, the other written in Rust, will be selectively installable through RPM's installable alternatives framework, similar to how we can select beween PipeWire/PulseAudio and pipewire-media-session/wireplumber.

Treating this ticket as if the week voting period started at that comment.

Though since I'm making this vote about five hours after the 7-day mark, it is not quite approved yet. It'll be auto-approved next week unless it receives a -1 vote.

I've also finished the packag review for the keylime-agent-rust package, so things should be moving along nicely.

After a week, the vote is

APPROVED (+5,0,-0)
