Though I hope the update from 11 → 17 will be smoother than the one from 1.8.0 → 11, as I won't be able to help with it this time.

I'm afraid that not . And again it will end in manual fixing of aprox 100 packages.

Huh, was this change fully implemented in time for F36? For example, on systems that are upgraded from Fedora 35 to 36, java-17-openjdk is not even getting installed, and so java-11-openjdk remains the default system JDK.
