#218 Rakudo Perl 6 - https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/Rakudo_Perl_6
Closed None Opened 14 years ago by jstanley.

Feature Freeze is coming up and the rakudo package doesn't build yet. Should this be deferred until Fedora 13? If not, what is being done upstream and by the packagers to get a working rakudo package built?

Look, the rakudo release we need to build this package was released 3 days ago, and Gert got it packaged a day later. We will work on Racudo next week and I'm very optimistic that we have a building package within a week, although not in time for Feature Freeze on Tuesday.

Gerd is in close contact with upstream (Patrick Michaud and Moritz Lenz), in fact Moritz released rakudo especially to make this feature happen and we have one more rakudo release where patches can be upstreamed.

We should at least give it a try. If we have no package shipped with alpha, we will defer the feature.

This feature was deferred until Wednesday - can you come to the meeting then?

I will be there, not sure if Gerd will make it. 17: UTC is correct?

Gerd has been working on this today and we have a building SRPM now:
ftp://ftp.uni-siegen.de/pub/parrot.rpms/rakudo/rakudo-0.2009.07-1.src.rpm

perl6 -e 'say "hello world"'

hello world

We need to make an update to parrot, but rakudo itself is fine. Of curse the package needs some finish.

This was accepted as a feature so long as review was completed by 7/31 (which it was).
