#2169 F31 Self-Contained Change: Qt Wayland By Default On Gnome
Closed: Accepted 4 years ago by ignatenkobrain. Opened 4 years ago by bcotton.

Make Qt applications to run natively on Gnome Wayland session, using the Qt Wayland platform plugin instead of the XCB plugin which is used for X11/XWayland. Other desktop environments already run natively on Wayland sessions, only Gnome is excluded by Qt.

@jgrulich I would appreciate if there would be some link to changes which need to happen (or just piece of configuration which needs to be changed) so that it can be tested before landing.

I updated https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes/Qt_Wayland_By_Default_On_Gnome#Scope. Is this enough? Basically you can run any Qt 5 application with mentioned options to achieve the same result. For example: konqueror -platform wayland -platformtheme qgnomeplatform.

Regarding the second part - window decorations, these are not completely finished, they do work, but I need to figure out how to draw shadows, which is the last mising part to do before releasing new QGnomePlatform version.

Is this enough?

Sure, thanks!

For some reason, telegram-desktop becomes really slow when running with these options, but I'll open bug against qt5 package and we can discuss it there.
