I'm +1 for the change. We need to keep an eye on issue 1925 to make sure it can land in time.

This has been open for over a week and has +6 votes. It is approved.

IBM has moved the transition to glibc 2.29 (scheduled for Fedora 30), so this is not ready for Fedora 28:

https://sourceware.org/ml/libc-alpha/2018-07/msg00083.html

Do we need to do anything to enact the contingency plan (did any part of this get already implemented)?

Some parts have been implemented upstream, but there fully compatible with future changes. Fedora 29 can release with glibc 2.28 as planned, but without this feature.

I am assuming this can be considered as deferred and change owner will re-open the proposal for F30. If so, may I get a confirmation, please ?

Yes, we will repropose this change for Fedora 30.
