#1690 F27 Self Contained Changes
Closed: Fixed 6 years ago Opened 7 years ago by jkurik.

Self contained Changes for the Fedora 27 release.

Bodhi Non-RPM Artifacts
Bodhi, the Fedora Updates System, should be able to process more than just RPMs.

True Noarch Erlang Packages
Erlang packages are currently all installed into %{_libdir}/erlang/lib, despite most of them being noarch packages. This proposal is to modify Erlang to search %{_datadir}/erlang/lib in addition to %{_libdir}/erlang/lib when searching for dependencies.

Making sudo pip Safe (Again)
At the present time, running sudo pip3 in Fedora is not safe. Pip shares its installation directory with dnf, can remove dnf-managed files and generally break the Python 3 interpreter. We propose a series of measures that will make it safe to use.

New Changes to review

Decouple system java setting from java command setting
Alternatives can be used to specify which Java installation should be the default for the system. Currently, changing the default java command causes not only a change to the /usr/bin/java symlink, but also affects the which runtime is used for system installed Java applications. We propose introduction of separate setting for system-wide java applications.

These items were discussed in last Friday's FESCo meeting. The outcomes are as follows:

"Unified database for DNF" is deferred until F28.
"Authselect: new tool to replace authconfig" is rejected, as it's effectively just a new package. Repropose as a Change when it's time to replace authconfig
"New default cipher in OpenVPN" is approved
"Chinese Serif Fonts" is approved
"libpinyin 2.1" is approved
"Platform Python Stack" is approved
"OpenSSH Server Crypto Policy" is approved
