#1658 F26 System Wide Change: Golang 1.8
Closed 7 years ago Opened 7 years ago by jkurik.

For the FESCo meeting to discuss/approve as the Change Proposal was announced on devel-announce@ list on 2016-Dec-12.

Rebase of Golang package to upcoming version 1.8 in Fedora 26, including rebuild of all dependent packages.

I'm +1 for this change.

I am +1 for this change also

I'm mostly +1, but there is an open question about carrying a patch in our golang package on the list. That needs to be answered.

Upstream suggestion for downstream solution seems reasonable to me. For me there is still question if to mandate it for all Go packages, through upcoming Go guidelines. I would lean to not make it mandatory for all packages, but strongly suggested(at level that it will be enabled by default in Go packaging macros). Maybe only mandatory for packages providing daemon(unit file)?

Unfortunately I will be most probably unable to attend today meeting due to personal matters.

That's +5.

As for the open question on the coredumps, I think that can be sorted out on devel list and with FPC via guidelines.
