#155 Forbit anonymous bug-zapping
Closed None Opened 14 years ago by cwickert.

It's a well know fact that bug-zappers are not necessarily always doing the right things when cleaning up bugzilla. Therefor anonymous bug-zapping like this should not be allowed:

Comment #3 From Bug Zapper (fedora-triage-list@redhat.com) 2008-11-25 22:28:28 EDT (-) [reply] -------

This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 10
development cycle.
Changing version to '10'.

More information and reason for this action is here:

Proposal: Bug-zappers may still use the account "Bug Zapper" and the corresponding email address fedora-triage-list, but they must also mention their real name and a proper email address when they edit bugs, so people can reach them if they have questions or comments. This also applies to automatic mass-editing and requires some of the bug-zapper's scripts to be modified.

I don't think there is anything for FESCo to decide here.

This is not "anonymous bug triage". This is the automated routine that follows the processes described here http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping which was previously approved by FESCo. It was also announced to fedora-devel-announce last week.

This same process will run for Fedora 11 and has been discussed for the past few weeks at the weekly bug triage meeting and summarized on fedora-test-list. Please join us at our next meeting if you have other concerns.

Thanks you,
John

All of these modifications are performed by Red Hat Engineering Operations - there is no human that has access to the password for this account in BZ. This has been approved by FESCo in the past, if you'd like to provide another proposal, please do. I'm closing this ticket, because it appears you misunderstood that humans are doing this, which is not the case.

If you have another proposal, please either re-open this ticket, or file a new one.
