#1228 Request for expedited nonresponsive package maintainer procedure
Closed None Opened 10 years ago by puiterwijk.

I would like to request an expedited nonresponse package maintainer procedure for mediawiki on EL5.
The current package in EPEL5 is 1.14, and has been for a long time.

There have been earlier communications on epel-devel on this issue in December 2010 (http://www.redhat.com/archives/epel-devel-list/2010-December/msg00037.html), but a few months ago the current maintainer (Dan Mashal) took it over, but he hasn't updated it since, even though there have been a few bugs opened against the package regarding security updates.
For example:
- https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1030991

I have pinged Dan multiple times on these bugs to ask for his input, but have so far not received any response.
I also pinged him on IRC and emailed him about it, without any responses so far.

I would like to request this package to be EOL'ed, or upgraded, as already discussed in the emails of 2010.

I have been maintaining mediawiki119 for EPEL-6 for quite some time now, and have been helping in maintaining mediawiki for Fedora as well.

Thanks for your consideration,
Patrick Uiterwijk

For the purpose of not doing any major upgrades, we currently have mediawiki119 (1.19 is the current LTS release) in EPEL6.

I would be okay with requesting a branch for EPEL5 and maintain that, but that needs the current mediawiki package to be retired first, so I can mark mediawiki119 as Obsoleting mediawiki.

Please note I have not yet checked if that is possible in terms of dependency requirements yet, but I would want the current mediawiki package to be retired or the security fixes backported.

Also, I had opened a normal non-response packager bug earlier today before deciding to request an expedited procedure: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1057052

Sorry for the late response. Tried to get you on IRC tonight. The source has vastly changed from 4 years ago so it will need a little elbow grease. I'll try to get this done ASAP, and catch you again tomorrow.

I have not seen any ping on IRC from you last night?

Please ping me as puiterwijk on freenode.

Because the maintainer is currently responding, I will close this ticket for now.
