#59 Support chain-builds in non-Rawhide branches
Opened 11 years ago by sgallagh. Modified 2 months ago

Historically, chain-builds were only supported in the Rawhide branch because it was the only location that could auto-generate the buildroot.

However, the modern version of bodhi now supports allowing users to submit individual packages to the buildroot of any branch.

It would make life easier for a great many people if 'fedpkg chain-build' could gain the capability to automatically submit buildroot overrides on non-Rawhide branches.

Does this issue make sense nowadays?

It looks this issue is related to #92

I think it still makes sense. However it would be a pain to implement, because the regular chain build works completely in koji. With buildroot overrides, fedpkg would have to submit a single build, wait for it to finish, then submit the override, wait for it to get into the buildroot, and only then submit another build. I'm not sure if this could actually use the chain build functionality in koji.

This issue has been unresolved for more than a year, and is going to be closed within a week if no further action is taken. If you feel this is in error, please contact me.
This is a cleaning process suggested by Jay Greguske. Copy of this ticket was already closed in JIRA tracker.

I filed https://pagure.io/fedpkg/issue/540 to suggest that chain-build should use side tags by default, which would happen to pretty much also address this, I think.
