When Upstream Release Monitoring is configured to perform a scratch build when a new version is available, a patch is attached to the Bugzilla issue too. For many many patch releases, this is more than enough, so it would save us a lot of time if we had a command to automatically apply that patch, and even download the new sources (possibly using #376), upload these new sources and commit the changes.

Apparently there's a proposal to make the-new-hotness open a PR instead of just attaching the patch, which would be better than this proposal. So closing. Please open this again if you still consider it interesting.
