#65 Missing backgrounds
Closed 5 years ago Opened 5 years ago by aday.

For some reason, the backgrounds are missing from F28 - it only includes the default Fedora and GNOME ones. This looks quite bad.

We ought to add the backgrounds back for F29.

All the upstream GNOME backgrounds were intentionally removed two years ago, by @ryanlerch. I thought they were supposed to be replaced by Fedora backgrounds, though. Surely there should be more than just two options, here. Perhaps Ryan could investigate?

It would be useful to know what the reasoning was there. I'd also be interested to see a comparison of the upstream and downstream background sets.

I found #12

Maybe Ryan could help with this.

Anyway, right now there are no backgrounds at all, as you note, so one way or another we need to fix that. I see fedora-workstation-backgrounds was added to comps in https://pagure.io/fedora-comps/c/759becb44f63137cf349e1b43b2c370ae472e207?branch=master. But it is not today present in comps-f28.xml or comps-f29.xml. I don't know when or why it was removed, but we can surely fix this by adding it back.

Yes, sorry. Let's stick to restoring the intended behaviour.

Merged into rawhide, please reopen if it's still an issue. Note this was a comps issue and there is no upgrade path, so users who installed F28 will never see these backgrounds.
