Fedora 43 currently ships gnome-extensions-app 48.alpha. So it looks like that application hasn't been maintained ... for a while.
It's getting built from the same sources as gnome-shell, it should probably just also actually be built from the same package. That way they'd at least always be in sync.
This was reported earlier, and is a bit of a storm in a tea cup: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2383756
The only user-visible change in 48.1 after 48~alpha was: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/-/merge_requests/3689 https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/-/commit/fddcfcd6c810beaa
... followed by this in 49~beta: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/-/merge_requests/3786 https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/-/commit/28ddde497aef843d
This application is so simple and changes so rarely that I think @fmuellner simply forgot about those rare two occasions when it did receive the rare user-visible change.
Anyway, there are vague plans to eventually split the Extensions app into its own upstream repository: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/-/merge_requests/3738 https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/-/commit/375f8e4c210fb6c0
Looks like this package has been updated. Thanks for reporting the problem.
@fmuellner I strongly recommend one downstream source package per upstream repo, to avoid future mistakes or confusion. Splitting it out upstream sounds good to me.
