#400 UI styling issues with Fedora Flatpak Qt apps
Closed: Fixed 5 months ago by catanzaro. Opened 6 months ago by aday.

There was some discussion of this in #351, but it wasn't clear to me what the outcome was, and the issue is still evident.

If I install a Qt app as a Fedora Flatpak, there are UI styling issues which are not present with the RPM versions. For example, in Krita, menu bar headers are illegible on hover (the background colour is light when hovered and the label colour isn't inverted to ensure contrast). Similarly, dialog button icons cannot be seen because they have a dark colour on a dark background.

(I would attach screenshots but it doesn't seem to be working in Pagure.)

This is a particular issue because Fedora Flatpaks are what we offer by default in Software.

Running flatpak install fedora org.kde.krita I can see it pulls in F38 version of KDE runtime, where we don't apply the Qt6 backports, this is a F39+ work only and F38 should still rely on QGnomePlatform and Adwaita-qt, but I don't know how these work with Fedora Flatpaks, they are probably not included in the runtime? On Flathub they are as extensions. This will be fixed once all the apps use F39 version of the runtime I believe.

Thanks for the information @jgrulich

Closing since Jjan says the problems here are fixed in the Fedora 39 runtime.
