#30 Colour Emoji
Closed 6 years ago Opened 6 years ago by ryanlerch.

Not sure if this has been fixed, but i recently installed a Fresh Fedora 27 Beta, and the colour emoji were not working. As far as i can tell, neither the Noto Colour Emoji (google-noto-emoji-color-fonts) or the EmojiOne packages (eosrei-emojione-fonts) are installed by default in Workstation Beta.

I know there was some movement post-beta with using the noto fonts over the emoji-one fonts (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1496761), but just filing this issue so we can check in the meeting that the correct packages are installed by default.

I think it would be good to list the fonts explicitly in comps @fonts.

@petersen will add the color font to @fonts explicitly in comps. PR forthcoming.

Jeremy Bicha discovered that https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2017-a1b250db9b has not gone in yet, and @petersen's pull request for comps has not been accepted yet either, so we will have no color emoji support in F27 unless we take action urgently.

Was there any freeze exception bug filed under which to pull in the update?

Please file a FE bug immediately and we'll see if we can get it in.

The Freeze Exception request was rejected. From the blocker bug meeting log:

18:55 < adamw> #agreed 1509996 - RejectedFreezeException (Final) - this seems like a relatively minor improvement (that only affects Workstation live sessions really) and we felt it's a bit late to be fiddling with comps and core package requirements for something like this

This has now been merged I believe.

So this can probably be closed finally for f28.
