#297 Add Gnome Web (epiphany) to installation image
Closed: Won't fix 2 years ago by catanzaro. Opened 2 years ago by arikh.

Workstation (WS) comes with Firefox preinstalled. As WS uses Gnome as its graphical environment, it is a desirable feature to also have the Gnome Web (GW) browser preinstalled.

Since GW is relatively small in size and fits nicely with Gnome, I propose that WS should come with it.

We really do not need two web browsers, though. And Epiphany is not capable of replacing Firefox because it lacks support for basic essential features like WebRTC and WebAuthn.

It might return as a web app runtime, but surely not as a web browser, at least not anytime soon.

FWIW: I proposed the same seven years ago, and agreed to wait until WebRTC was implemented. Nowadays we really need WebAuthn too. I have a suspicion that there will always be something....

I'm going to go ahead and close this because I've spent the past 8 years developing Epiphany and don't think this is a good idea. :(
