#39 Test custom partitioning detection of existing installs
Opened 7 years ago by adamwill. Modified 2 years ago

It would be good to add some tests that check custom partitioning mode properly detects existing Fedora installs.

We could have various of the partitioning tests upload their disk images at the end and then add new tests that boot the installer with the uploaded images attached and check if custom partitioning shows an existing Fedora install properly...or we could add it just as an additional test step at the end of some/all of the install tests, boot back to the installer, go to custom partitioning, check it shows the installed system correctly...

anaconda team have said that having this tested automatically would be valuable to them.

Isn't this already achieved with the postinstall tests, @adamwill ?

No, I don't think so. Maybe the description is unclear? What I'm suggesting is something like: run an install with an exotic storage config (e.g. software RAID or something), then boot anaconda with that layout still on the disk and check anaconda detects and displays it correctly. We've had bugs in the past where anaconda could not correctly detect and display some storage configurations.
