#792 Update release criteria and test cases for installer switch from VNC to RDP
Opened 2 months ago by adamwill. Modified 2 months ago

Along with the recent port from X.org to Wayland, anaconda switched its official remote desktop support from VNC to RDP.

We have release criteria, test cases, and openQA tests that require VNC to work and test that it does. We need to update all of those for this change.

Note that it seems there is no RDP equivalent of VNC's 'reverse connection' feature where you could have the system on which the install was running initiate the connection to the system from which you wanted to monitor it, which was useful for dealing with some network configurations where the server could not be reached from the outside. We will have to drop criteria and tests relating to that feature, I believe.

Tagging @jkonecny for info.

Agree, thanks for creating this.

Just for more information. For the future deployment (probably Fedora Server target) we would rather recommend HTTPS + SSH than RDP or VNC for the installation.

that would be only after webui switch, though, right?

Yes, I'm talking here about the future intent. Not for Fedora 42 or 43.
