#680 kernel 5.14 test week 2021-09-12 through 2021-09-18
Closed: Fixed 2 years ago by sumantrom. Opened 2 years ago by jforbes.

Owner: Justin Forbes
Time Frame: 12th Sept to 18th Sept
Features: Kernel 5.14 rebase

As discussed at Flock, we will start hosting test days for each major kernel rebase (approximately every 8-10 weeks). It was discussed that we should extend this to a test week, to allow time for more participants. They have been incredibly helpful so far. As the 5.14 kernel is now released, I would like to get a test week in before we push the rebase to stable releases. I will have ISOs for USB images so that users can test on bare metal or in VMs, and the kernel will be available in the stabilization repo for users who wish to install it on existing systems. As 5.14 will also be the release kernel for F35, it will be good to get additional testing.

@jforbes, thanks for filing the ticket, I will be filling in the test day bits

We had a slightly lower turnout this week, not exactly sure why, but I did get valid test data, and at least solved one critical issue with AMD laptops not spinning up fans after resume. While the total tests and total testers doesn't look so bad, I ended up pushing 5 different kernels over the week, so a lot of those were likely the same tester testing multiple versions. The most tests on a single kernel version was 72 across 29 testers.

Total tests: 256 from 109 testers.

Thanks a ton, Justin!
