#655 new testcase: reinstall Fedora while preserving /home (blivet version)
Closed: Fixed 3 years ago by kparal. Opened 3 years ago by kparal.

We already have a custom part version of this testcase from #638:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/QA:Testcase_partitioning_custom_btrfs_preserve_home

Now we need the blivet version.

Select appropirte mount point looks like 00/var/lib/machines, right click and delete it.

Where is 00 coming from? I tested a clean installation of GNOME and KDE (as in the Setup instructions) and root subvolume is always called root.

Regarding /var/lib/machines, it seems to be created only for GNOME (not KDE) and only after you first log in. If you install the system but don't boot it, it's not there. That might confuse quite a few people. Can you please try to make the advice universal (as much as we can)? We don't need to delve into detail here and say which exactly partitions to select and which exact buttons to pick. You need to say that home subvolume needs to be remounted, and other volumes need to be created from scratch (the old ones can be kept intact, if the user wants, or deleted). That's it.

Don't forget the other mountpoints outside of btrfs (like /boot and /boot/efi). Again, no extreme hand-holding is needed, just say to remount and reformat them, or create new partitions from scratch. But they should be mentioned.
