#604 [F32] Gnome 3.36 Test Day 2020-02-20
Closed: Fixed 3 years ago by sumantrom. Opened 4 years ago by sumantrom.

This tracker is created to track the progress for Gnome test for Fedora 32 Cycle

2020-02-20 sounds good to me: It would be right after GNOME 3.35.91, and before the F32 Beta freeze. A big change, new lock screen is only landing in .91 and if we schedule it like this, we'll have an opportunity to properly test it (and maybe even fix up issues we find) before the F32 Beta freeze starts.

3.36 has quite a lot of changes, which it's probably worth focusing on in the tests. This includes:

  • New login/unlock UI. There's an upstream test plan that could be useful.
  • Updated user settings - some issues here to look out for
  • The Clocks app has been completely redesigned - all aspects would benefit from testing
  • New Do Not Disturb feature - can be activated from the calendar popover or Settings, should hide normal priority notifications (critical notifications should still be shown)
  • App folders in the activities overview - new drag and drop functionality, and new UI for renaming each folder
  • System dialogs - have had a UI refresh; this should generally be OK but it's worth making sure that authentication dialogs look and perform as expected
  • Privacy settings - much expanded
  • Extensions - new app for managing shell extensions

More details on the changes can be seen here.

@aday @kalev here's the wiki : https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Day:2020-02-20_Gnome_3.36_Test_Day
we will add the WS iso link and test results link as I start writing some of the test cases.

@sumantrom Please add this to the calendar asap as well, so that people can see it there well ahead. Thanks.

Hello Sumantro,

I visited the link and I wanted to download the Fedora 32 Workstation
nighly image, but the URL is not working.  It seems to be pointing to
"https://weneedimage/"

I think I found it here, https://www.happyassassin.net/nightlies.html,
if you wanted I could update the link, just let me know.

we must apply. Being willing is not enough; we must do. ~ Leonardo da Vinci

@dan1mal So Gnome has released it upstream yet. This is mainly waiting on @kalev and @aday to build Gnome 3.35.90/3.36 and then build a testable compose which we use on the Test Day. We still have time on this and hence the placeholder (weeneedimage)

I updated the wiki to make the missing link less confusing.
