This ticket is intended to track progress towards the Oct-15-2009 Test Day focused on i18n verification. The hope is build on the lessons learned from the iBus test day, and organize a community test event around i18n. I'm by no means qualified to outline the technical needs of such an event. As such, I have cc'd the masters ... Jens and Lawrence on this ticket for their expertise.
One testing suggestion from Lawrence Lim was {{{ I18N is focus on 4 main areas: 1. input method 2. font/rendering 3. printing 4. localisation
As for how to test, I think it has to be based around those 4 keys areas. For example, write a para of text in japanese with input method, ensure the font/chars shows properly. Print it out and also ensure the application used for the above are localised to the specific locale. }}}
I created https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Day:2009-10-15 but still needs plenty more work.
Clock is running and I realised that India will be on public holiday on 2009-10-15 dunno if we should consider a Fit'n'Finish on 2009-10-27 instead?
I just spoke to mclasen who owns the Fit and Finish test day slots. He does not have issue with using the 2009-10-27 slot. This is available if you would like to reassign.

I've updated the main test day schedule to reflect this change as well (see https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/QA/Fedora_12_test_days). I also removed the wiki redirection from the old page in case we end up using that slot this week (unlikely).
Update, looks like the NSS test day has been cancelled. That opens up 2009-10-29 for a test day if you wish to use it.

Hi Rui, thank you for taking time to create these test cases. I'm afraid I'm not well versed in testing different input methods, I would request help from folks more experienced in that area. I do have some comments on the cases from the perspective of a newbie. I have added the comments to the ''Discussion'' page for the applicable test cases. I hope they are helpful. The tests I put feedback on include:
Some of the initial feedback applies to all test cases. Can someone take a look at the remaining tests and provide feedback?

Jens and Rui ... the pages are looking good. Thanks to both for your time & preparation. The only other thing I can think of is providing a few more breadcrumbs so that testers know what to try next. Keep in mind I'm coming at this with no idea what i18n verification entails. So correct me if I'm off-base.
For example, under the section '''How to test''', you highlight different target areas. Perhaps we can add some more detail to that section to give testers additional guidance? Are there specific applications or desktop environments that you'd really like to see covered?
Also along those lines, perhaps having a few sample results in the test results tables ahead of time to provide an example for testers to follow?

That link should do nicely. If for some reason the nightly live images fail to build for tomorrow, I'll be happy to build live images and host them on fedorapeople.org.
Additionally, those live images are built using the standard live image kickstart files maintained by the spin-kickstarts project. If you wish to modify the live image package set to include additional i18n scripts/tests/packages ... just let me know. I can build new images that have exactly what you need.

Done testing on ml_IN locale and have updated the wiki with the details. Some bugs found during my personal QA were filed earlier, however they have been recorded here on the wiki.
