pknirsch: A question came up from Cai and Kexin about needing a newer powertop package (powertop-1.11-4). Right now I only see powertop-1.11-3.fc12 (see http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/packageinfo?packageID=4369). Do you know who can help with this?

I've opened a bugzilla for an issue that Kexin discovered and which i've investigated and fixed on Tuesday.

The test day wiki page (https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Day:2009-10-22) is looking great folks. One suggestion I might offer is around the test cases created.

When I tried to install the testday rpm with yum using:

yum --nogpgcheck localinstall testday-pm-0.4-1.fc12.YOURARCH.rpm

it failed because the kernel debug info packages weren't installed, at least with the usb live image I tried. debuginfo-install did work, but the several hundred MB download will be an issue with USB live images without large persistant storage. I also ran into a problem where I didn't have enough space trying to install the packages despite making the persistant storage take the entire 2GB stick.

Let's fix the originals. I will update the old Power Management test day to point to the older versions of the wiki test cases. I'd prefer keeping 1 set of test cases and rely on mediawiki versioning. If no objections, I'll update the old test day wiki (https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/QA/Test_Days/2009-04-02) to point to the old test cases. This way you can update the cases without ''changing history.''

Great, I've updated the older test day wiki to point to the original test cases. You should be free to merge changes into those cases now without disturbing the old versions. See https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Day:Power_management_2009-04-02#Test.

Btw ... once you have completed the migration of content, you can mark the wiki pages for deletion using the ''{{delete}}'' template (see https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Template:Delete)

I updated https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Day:2009-10-22#Prerequisite to give more information about this: We prefer testing on installed system to Live{CD,USB}. Actually, results from installed systems are the most important for us. kernel-debuginfo package is needed because of "scomes" test. If people want to run the tests on Live system, they have to have enough free space.

As always, I welcome thoughts/ideas on how to improve future fedora test events. PowerManagement definitely set the bar high by providing automated test cases!
