Peter, I can help you follow the SOP [1], setup appropriate wiki pages, send out announcements, etc. You will need to create test cases [2] that people can follow during the test day. As an example look e.g. at ABRT test cases [3].

I don't think there is anything blocking this event. However, it is a very focused technical topic that might not have a wide appeal. So the burden is on the organizers to ...

1. Identify and engage any interested devel+test communities
2. Provide simple/easy-to-follow setup and test instructions

If we are having trouble gathering interest ahead of time, we just need to adjust expectations on the number of participants. You have fcami interested already, so that's a great start! :)

jlaska offered a few remarks - it's a very focused technical topic, so we need to:
* reach out to interested test communities that would like to help
* spell out testing in simple easy to follow tests
* lower expectations on how many testers will get involved
