I'm not sure we should block on X11? I think Wayland should be the default, even for the Nvidia proprietary driver now[0]. I can't find the state of play for other drivers, but for DEs Wayland by default for KDE started with F34, the Nvidia change points to F22 for Wayland by default for Workstation, but that's only the login screen[2]. The Wayland by default change[3] points for F25, but I don't see the change listed there.

I do agree X11 is still popular, especially for gaming uses, but unless somebody can point to a blocking config that uses it, I don't think we should be blocking on it.

We've never created a clear guidance on when to block on X11. It is true that the importance of X11 is diminishing. But until F36 nvidia users didn't even use wayland by default, they used X11. That probably changed now, but I'm not sure how successful that effort was.

I am an Nvidia user and have been using Wayland for a couple of releases now. Also, it is interesting how we are voting here -> not a blocker, but we would like to block on the same issue with Gnome Maps that is far less disturbing (application crash) than a new error report every session start (DE crash).

Anyway, if the functionality of the session is not hindered, i.e. the crashes do not happen until logout and never do any real harm, I favor
