This is quite a big thing to pull in during freeze, isn't it? :/
Yeah, I wish we would have been ready before the freeze, but we just missed the deadline by a few hours. The presence of compatibility packages should minimize the impact to other packages at least.
If you have some specific concerns we can do some targeted testing of the beta compose to address those and ensure there are no major issues.
I was +1 because it's tied to a Change proposal and was submitted at the beginning of the freeze. If it were closer to the target release date, my willingness to accept it would drop precipitously.
There is still time to apply fixes during the Beta phase and to have a new version might look good.
