Accessing a network share without crashing definitely feels like basic functionality to me.

I'm rather surprised that thumbnailing isn't a default configuration, but maybe this is why :sweat_smile:
Local thumbnailing is enabled by default, just remote thumbnailing isn't. I believe it would be more related to performance concerns.
