#10 Interview with the i3 sig
Closed 2 years ago by computerkid. Opened 3 years ago by computerkid.

I propose either @defolos and/or @jflory7 and/or @nasirhm and/or @odilhao from the i3 SIG

Here, we can propose dates for recording this interview, who should be in it, and what we should talk about.

potential topics that might be of interest:
- Why did we decide to create a i3 spin and what are the objectives
- Future plans & improvements
- how to get involved

Some more basic quick questions I might add
- What is i3wm
- what is a wm
- explain the difference between a DE and WM and
- why you don't NEED a DE
- tiling vs non tiling WMs
we would want to create short, concise, and clear answers to the questions to lay the groundwork for explaining what fedora i3 is and what it's for

What if we do this in a less Q&A fashion?

We can start a discussion about what WM are and difference between WM and DE, and from there estart talking about the i3 SIG, the Spin and let the conversation flows

I like it! We should definitely try this, even if it's just for trying it. I do think it will go well though.

Let's find a date for this. @defolos when are you available in the near future?

ping @defolos are you still available for an interview?

Yes, sorry for the late reply. I am available on weekdays in the evening
European times and on weekends it varies. Do you have any dates in mind
yourself? Or shall we setup a whenisgood/doodle?

What about 5pm your time on tomorrow, Monday?
We already have on interview at 4pm your time on the 25th, so it would be easy to just have you right after.

Sorry, Monday is rather full, so I won't be available before 8-9 pm
CET. The rest of the week should be doable after 7pm.

ping @x3mboy I know you wanted to be a part of this one

After 7pm EST works on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays

I can do Tuesday the 4th of April at 7pm EST/EDT , How does that sound @defolos ?

Sorry, but that's 1am in my time zone=2E Even if I managed to keep myself a=
wake until then, I'd be utterly useless for any meaningful conversation=2E

Oh, my bad. I forgot. I can do most any time during the day, I don't know about @x3mboy though.

Sure I can, but in daytime I can do it Tuesdays or Fridays

I think it will be also worth to mention how you configure Window Manager like i3. People very often are not convinced to use it instead of full DE because they need to modify something in config files instead of clicking in GUI. Flexibility aspect of configuration is extremely important here and also fact you can move it between your machines and it will look them same everywhere.

Recorded! Thanks everyone.
