= problem =
The Fedora Magazine can drown out other activities and discussions for Fedora Marketing.
= analysis =
After some time in Fedora Marketing, it can sometimes feel like the Fedora Magazine takes over the discussion and focus of Fedora Marketing. When the Magazine first started, it was at a much smaller scale than where it is now. Combining the Magazine into marketing efforts made sense.
Since its origin, the Magazine has grown into a notable project deserving of its own dedicated and focused contributors. Often times, many people will contribute to the Magazine, but not have an interest in contributing to Marketing. This can sometimes lead to the feeling that Marketing equates to the Magazine, although this isn't the case.
The Fedora Magazine is still a subset of Fedora Marketing, but I think it might be better to consider moving the Magazine to its own mailing list (and IRC channel?) to help make sure the Marketing work in Fedora isn't running parallel to the Magazine.
= enhancement recommendation =
I'd be curious to know others' thoughts on this. I've discussed it with some people off-channel, but I'd like to know the rest of the Magazine editorial team's thoughts too.
+1 From me on this proposal.
IIRC, your summary of the original decision not to seperate these out when the magazine was created is correct. But now the magazine is much bigger, it does make sense now to have our own communication channels.
As you already know I'm +1 for your proposal. Magazine has his own workflow, people, structure and by now two separate meetings and tasks. Keep them integrated may cause confusion.
Thanks.
Gabri
+1 from me.
Magazine it's big enough to have their own operation.
Discussed in [https://meetbot.fedoraproject.org/fedora-meeting/2016-08-16/marketing.2016-08-16-12.59.html 2016-08-16 meeting].
= Migration date =
In the meeting, we agreed on the migration and setting a target date for Monday, August 29, 2016 (the same day we move to Pagure).
= What does change mean? =
The Magazine discussion and operations will happen in their own mailing list and IRC channel.
Closing ticket as fixed. The separation happened successfully.
