Article Summary: A look into the history of Fedora including the distros that led to its development, as well as the various flavours currently being spun off Article Description: An interest piece that will briefly touch on the development of unix, the creation of gnu/linux, and the histories of the RedHat and Fedora projects. As there are an ever-growing number of linux distros it would be interesting to look into how Fedora relates to the others, and to RedHat and CentOS in particular. We will also look into Fedora variants such as Silverblue and the various desktop environment spins. The purpose is to give the reader a broader sense of how Fedora fits in with the current linux family, what sets it apart from the others, and what the future roadmap may look like.

The following is from Gregory Lee Bartholomew as a response to the proposal:
BTW, to save the editors some work down the road:
“gnu” is a recursive acronym, so it should be written with all uppercase letters (“GNU”).
… and what the future roadmap may look like.
That particular aspect of the article may need to be verified by Matthew Miller.
There is some documentation here
Thanks!

Still working on it, almost done my first rough draft.
Do you guys have any 'official' documentation sources or can confirm them so I know where to 'fact check' this and my other future works?
Maybe this?: https://www.youtube.com/live/9SfwaDWHTZ8?feature=shared&t=395
There might be some info hidden in this one too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ac6UsbHfL0g

It would be good if you cite references for as much as possible.
It would also be helpful if a numbered reference could be placed next to any significant statement that would link directly to the quote or timestamp for the videos.

@tophat I've done an editing pass on this article. Primary changes were to improve the language flow, reduce some of the sentence length, break up the long paragraphs, and add some section headers. Any corrections or further improvements would be great.
A bibliography or references section at the end of the article would be a very good addition.
Also, we would be grateful for any ideas for a featured image. [edit] I've added a tentative image.
@mattdm This article contains historical and Red Hat specific information. Would it be possible for you to review this to insure that it is accurate before it is published?
Please let us know what, if any, corrections or changes you feel are appropriate.
Thank you.
@rlengland I'll also be adding the references and video timestamps soon. Will keep you updated.
@tophat FYI, the person who is most qualified to review your article is a very busy person. I hope you don't mind waiting for him to find some time he can volunteer to help out.
In the meanwhile, go ahead and make revisions as you like. Matthew will "lock" the article when he gets around to reviewing it.
Thanks.
@glb Yeah, no worries.
@tophat and @rlengland, Matthew has reviewed the article and I agreed with and made the changes he recommended.
I made a few additional changes that were recommended by the SEO engine and I think this article is ready to go out.
One thing I think could still be improved is the cover image. I'm not crazy about the blue-on-blue coloring. Can we get a little more contrast? Also, something with trees or maybe a timeline might fit the theme better.
Just my two cents.
@glb Nothing is "committed" for the image. Let me look again. I was not finding anything for "timeline" in my previous search, but I'll try again. The blue on blue, in retrospect, isn't real appealing or eye catching.
Just a thought, but what about NASA's expansion of the universe timeline?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Bang#/media/File:CMB_Timeline300_no_WMAP.jpg
It's public domain. There is a version without the text:

I'm not sure if you could overlay the title in a readable way though.
Edit: more versions here:

@glb This worthy?

It looks good to me.

I went ahead and scheduled it to go out on Monday at 08:00 UTC.
Wow! Thank you guys so much for the revisions and the image. All looks great to me, and so happy to see it all get done with your speedy contributions. Looking forward to when it is live!
