#137 gnome-info-collect introduction and CFA
Closed: scheduled 2 years ago by rlengland. Opened 2 years ago by rlengland.

Article Summary:
A new data-collection tool gnome-info-collect is ready to be used. We’re doing a publicity campaign to reach as many GNOME users as possible, and as GNOME is the default and most used Fedora desktop environment, we would like to reach Fedora users as well.

Article Description:
gnome-info-collect is a new tool which collects anonymous data about GNOME systems. The goal of this tool is to help improve GNOME, by providing data that can inform design decisions, influence where resources are invested, and generally help GNOME understand its users better.

The article will introduce the tool, provide instructions on how to install and use it and simply present how the collection works. It will have a CFA at the end of the article.

@vstanek I've reviewed and edited your article, There were no substantial changes but you might look it over to make certain I've not missed something.

I've also created a feature image so let me know if that is suitable.

This is tentatively scheduled for 31 August (this coming Wednesday) so let me know as soon as you can if there are any changes required.

Thanks for your work on this article.

@rlengland Thank you!

I went through the article and I think everything is fine.

The feature image looks good, even though I would consider changing the font a bit - I find the color way too beaming. On the other hand this will attract attention of readers... It's not a big deal, if you don't have the time or don't want to play around with it, it can definitely stay the way it is.

Release on Wednesday is great! Thank you!

Thanks for checking the article out. The text color seems imposing in the large version in the article. I went with something bright because it helps the text be readable in the small version shown in other locations. The text can become harder to read as it gets smaller. At least, that's my 'excuse'. :-)
Let me take a look at it again.

I like the change - the black shadow is better than the previous white one. Thank you!

Hey, just a question: I'm getting email notifications that comments are waiting for my approval. I'm not supposed to be the one approving comments as I'm not a Fedora Magazine editor, right?

@vstanek It is the responsibility of the editors to monitor and approve the comments to keep things constructive and on target. There are, however, only 3 of us at present so sometimes there can be a time lag before that approval occurs.

You should see the comments at this time.

@rlengland I didn't mean to push you, I was just making sure it is not my responsibility :)

Thank you!

@vstanek :-) I wasn't feeling pushed. Just wanted to explain what the process was in a little more detail.
