#12 New project "selinux-rhel" (clone of "selinux") in Weblate
Closed 2 years ago by jibecfed. Opened 3 years ago by vmojzis.

Hi,
could you please create a new project "selinux-rhel" (clone of "selinux") in Weblate to maintain translations for RHEL version of policycoreutils, setroubleshoot, etc. ? The current "selinux" project would then be kept up to date with the latest fedora versions of those packages.

It appears that we will need the same setup for setroubleshoot as well. Could you please also create setroubleshoot-rhel project?

I do not wish to have multiple projects for this.

Why not use components? It's much easier for everyone.

We already have multiple components. It'd be really crowded if we added copy of each component for each RHEL release and Fedora rawhide. Also, how would we manage those versions with multiple source code repositories (gitlab for RHEL and github for Fedora)?

each component have its own git repository, no problem to have one related to gitlab and the other related to github

having many components is no issue for a translator, see: https://translate.fedoraproject.org/projects/fedora-docs-l10n-project/

Weblate also have
Let's say I translate something in fedora-gui that also exists in rhel-gui, weblate will propagate my change.
And if my translations are not consistent, weblate will warn me, etc.

really, just renaming the existing components to have an explicit fedora/rhel prefix or suffix, and just add more components, it makes us all more effective

now that you know how it works, what is your decision @vmojzis ?
please note I'm sometime available in fedora-devel IRC if you need help

@jibecfed Would it be OK to use folders inside the current project? Something like rhel/policycoreutils, rhel/gui etc. as used eg. in https://translate.fedoraproject.org/projects/fedora-docs-l10n-project/

yes, of course! the name of these folders are "component" in Weblate vocable
