It doesn't work on Wayland at all: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=438912
The replacement suggestion is to point people to KWin's built-in magnification and zoom effects.

According to @nicolasfella, it doesn't seem to work properly on X11 either.
Ok, let's remove it. Do we want this in f39, f38?

PR for F40: https://pagure.io/fedora-comps/pull-request/902
Will do it for F39 after the release.
Sounds good!
That's not entirely true. Some stuff seems to work okay, other features seem a bit weird at best
So in the KDE bug (https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=438912) they mentioned KMag had some features like pixel-true zooming and some hairline, that the KWin effects do not provide.
But I guess it still can be reinstalled when a user chooses to use X11 AND this tool
I think the right approach is to push for those needs to be ported into kwin.
PR for F39: https://pagure.io/fedora-comps/pull-request/909
@ngompa agree.
But as these changes impact users lifes, I dont really feel good with doing things like this. There has to be a way to inform users on reboot and login that this change was applied, how they can revert it (layer the package) and what alternatives are there.
Btw can you link to a plasma systemsettings page to open it automatically?
Will be removed from Kinoite with the next comps sync.
