#297 [bug] [Kinoite] SDDM does not follow user set Locale
Closed: Deferred to upstream a year ago by ngompa. Opened a year ago by a1ien.

I believe it's more SDDM bug, but anyway, just for info.
When user changes locale settings in plasma those are properly recored in user space plasma config ~/.config/plasma-localerc, but not for system under /etc/locale.conf. This can be verified by running localectl. For example, LC_TIME is missing causing SDDM to show different time format on login screen.

It can be manually fixed by running

sudo localectl set-locale LC_TIME=<locale>

In my opinion SDDM should check locale from user home directory in first place and a fallback to system locale when user config does not contain any info. This way it would allow on system with multiple users to have seperate locale for each user.

That looks like a feature request for SDDM. Could you file that upstream? Thanks.

That projects seems dead to me. 457 issues, 26 PRs, last commit two years ago. I think its pointless at this stage to add one more issue. Oh, well..

https://github.com/sddm/sddm is not dead and the last commit was in November.

We pick patches from this upstream in Fedora
