#14 Set a regular time for Fedora KDE SIG meetings
Closed: Fixed 3 years ago by ngompa. Opened 3 years ago by ngompa.

As part of transitioning to more active project management, @rdieter and I agreed that we need to have regular meetings again. I had forgotten to capture this as an issue here, but better late than never.

+1, even though I'm not as active as I used to be, I occasionally do some updates and it would be nice to have overview about what work is currently being done etc.

One thing that has worked out rather well for Fedora Workstation that we may want to consider is using video calls instead of IRC meetings. The focused, high-bandwidth sessions have helped us act decisively and relatively quickly.

+1 from me for video calls.

Video calls using what platform?

There are a few options:

  • Bluejeans (if a Red Hat person is willing to grant us a permanent meeting to use)
  • Jitsi Meet (meet.jit.si and meet.opensuse.org are options here)
  • BigBlueButton (meet.kde.org uses this)

I recently had a conversation with @apol where we discussed a monthly video call where KDE and Fedora can meet and discuss issues with regards to KDE Plasma on Fedora.

I'd like to make this happen as part of our regular weekly video call meeting schedule, such that every 4th meeting will be "special" where a couple of members of upstream join us to discuss things we can do to improve upstream and Fedora together.

@jgrulich, @bcotton: Would it be possible for us to set up a Bluejeans meeting?

I've set up a WhenIsGood link for determining a good time-slot each week: https://whenisgood.net/x5i83pe

Note that the times are in UTC, you'll probably want to set to your timezone using the drop-down at the top before selecting.

I should also be able to setup a BlueJeans or Google Meet for us here. Or maybe we could use the BigBlueButton instance from KDE?

Added myself.
If you want, we can use https://meet.kde.org/

So, the most accessible time seems to be 18:00 UTC (2pm EST) on Mondays. All but @jgrulich said they could make it then. @jgrulich, would you be able to find a way to attend at that time?

Yes, my wife won't like it, but I will make it there.

I've made the request for a KDE SIG calendar so I can declare it properly in fedocal: https://pagure.io/fedora-infrastructure/issue/9424

This is now done!

The next scheduled meeting is in fedocal. We're using KDE Meet, graciously set up by @apol.

The full KDE SIG calendar is present here (where you can get iCal subscription links generated to import into your groupware/calendar system of choice): https://apps.fedoraproject.org/calendar/kde-sig/

Finally, I have set up a reminder to be emailed to kde@ list one day prior to the meeting each week.
