A small package, usbmuxd, is required for iPhone network tethering to work, its absence degrades the user experience. usbmuxd is offered by default in Silverblue (and I think Workstation) and Ubuntu.
I was stuck then this post saved me: https://www.reddit.com/r/Fedora/comments/ocn6ko/usb_tethering_with_ios_146_on_fedora/

@ngraham Do we have any integration for usbmuxd in Plasma like GNOME does?

Just to give you the info I have, when I connect the phone without this installed, nothing happens.
When it is installed, I get a new connected wired connection shown in the NM applet and nmcli:
nmcli connection show Wired connection 1 7154729b-cdba-3038-9fd2-76103901c84c ethernet enp3s0f0u10c4i2
Yes, we have some integration, so installing this does help. It's not amazing and it's fairly buggy, but there are some open merge requests to improve it.
So which plasma (or NetworkManager) component(s) handles this integration? I think it best to add a dependency (on usbmuxd) where-ever that is.
I think it's in kio-extras.
We've discussed this in the meeting today and we want to ship this. The experience is not worse than what we have for MTP devices.
