Hello @aiant ! Welcome to Fedora!
Before we begin, please subscribe to the Fedora join mailing list at fedora-join@lists.fedoraproject.org. We use this list for general discussion, and it is also where the community shares tasks that need help.
These links are a good read to begin with. They tell you what the Free/Open Source community is about, and then they'll introduce you to Fedora: what Fedora is all about, and what we do, and of course, how we do it:
Next, when you're ready, could you please introduce yourself (preferably on the list) so that the community can get to know you? (Interests, skills, anything you wish to say about yourself really).
Finally, could you let us know how you learned about the Fedora project? Was it from a colleague, or social media, for example?
If you have any questions at all, please ask! We'll use this ticket to keep in touch! :)
In addition, could you provide some information to understand your requirements better? (You can write them in the introduction, or answer here if you feel more comfortable).
For example:
your experience with Free/Open Source Software (FOSS) communities/ecosystems:
your background/skills, for example:
your experience in communication platforms:
how much time are you looking to/are you able to spend on volunteering (approximate hours per week)?
Remember that this is not a job interview at all. This is just an icebreaker to help all your new friends get to know you quicker. The better we know you, the better we can support you in identifying Fedora activities that promise to be relevant for you.
Please write how much/whatever you wish. :).

Martin Moreno Self Introduction
Hi, I’m Martin from Argentina.
For a long time, I’ve been thinking about contributing to a FOSS project, and I believe the Fedora community might be the right place to start, as Fedora is a big part of my daily workflow. My interest in Linux and open source began in 2018, when I switched to Linux as a full-time user.
A few years later, I started working as a software developer for a little over a year and a half. Currently, I have been working as a full-time sysadmin for over a year. I have been using Fedora as my main workstation and personal computer OS since Fedora 37.
Most of my development experience is related to web technologies (C#, ReactJS). On the sysadmin side, I’ve worked with different distributions, mainly Debian and CentOS, handling setup, deployment, and tuning. I also have experience with monitoring tools such as Zabbix, Grafana, and Loki. Additionally, I’m familiar with some AWS services (IAM policies, EC2, snapshots, etc.), networking,OpenStack (only lab and testing using manual deployment), docker, DB engines, etc.
Since transitioning to a sysadmin role, I’ve been somewhat distanced from software development. One of my goals is to reconnect with development and contribute to open-source projects. I’d also like to start exploring low-level development.
Nice to meet you all!

Hello, Martin,
I'm Gavin, and I recently joined the Fedora community last month, officially becoming a member yesterday. It's wonderful to meet you here; I'm relatively new as well!
The Fedora community is full of exciting opportunities to explore. To help you integrate faster, here are some suggestions. You can always ask questions in the "Join Fedora" channel to understand how the community operates, what its focuses are, where it meets, why it engages in certain activities, and when events are scheduled. Furthermore, the "Fedora Social" channel is an excellent platform for interaction, where we can share our daily lives and have friendly chats.
I noticed that you have a keen interest in the four "I" labels: Games, Cloud, DevOps, and Software Development. These are all popular fields, and the Fedora community has many activities and resources related to them. To help you better understand these areas, I have prepared two wiki links for you:
You can join the channels dedicated to these fields to see what they are working on and how you can participate. When I first joined Fedora, I also integrated by doing the same thing, and they welcomed new members warmly.
Of course, if you have any questions or need help, you can ask in the relevant channels or directly reach out to me. I can also help you connect with members of the Join SIG, who are all very willing to assist.
Once again, welcome to the Fedora community! I look forward to exploring, learning, and growing with you!
Gavin
Hi Gavin!
I have been checking out the links you shared and have also joined Fedora Social.
I added the gaming area because I would like to know if there is a group or project working on compatibility tools like Proton, Wine, Lutris, Heroic Launcher, or any similar initiative within the Fedora community. Do you know if there is a group specifically focused on this?
Thanks for the welcome! I'm looking forward to finding something to contribute to soon.
Hi Martin! Have you checked out https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/gaming/contributing/ or tried chatting with the Gaming SIG over at https://chat.fedoraproject.org/#/room/#gaming:fedoraproject.org ? I think they'd be able to answer any questions you have about the gaming related teams and help you get started. -- Mark
Hi Mark, I checked both links, and I will introduce myself in the Matrix chat room
Thanks for the guidance!
