Hello @ldavidson12 ! Welcome to Fedora!
Before we begin, please subscribe to the Fedora join mailing list at fedora-join@lists.fedoraproject.org. We use this list for general discussion, and it is also where the community shares tasks that need help.
These links are a good read to begin with. They tell you what the Free/Open Source community is about, and then they'll introduce you to Fedora: what Fedora is all about, and what we do, and of course, how we do it:
Next, when you're ready, could you please introduce yourself (preferably on the list) so that the community can get to know you? (Interests, skills, anything you wish to say about yourself really).
Finally, could you let us know how you learned about the Fedora project? Was it from a colleague, or social media, for example?
If you have any questions at all, please ask! We'll use this ticket to keep in touch! :)
In addition, could you provide some information to understand your requirements better? (You can write them in the introduction, or answer here if you feel more comfortable).
For example:
your experience with Free/Open Source Software (FOSS) communities/ecosystems:
your background/skills, for example:
your experience in communication platforms:
how much time are you looking to/are you able to spend on volunteering (approximate hours per week)?
Remember that this is not a job interview at all. This is just an icebreaker to help all your new friends get to know you quicker. The better we know you, the better we can support you in identifying Fedora activities that promise to be relevant for you.
Please write how much/whatever you wish. :).

Hi, I am Luke Davidson. Did a quick introduction on the mailing list already. Some more info on me:
I have been using Linux for about 10 years. Fedora has been my desktop of choice for a few years now, and lately the KDE spin. I also have a few Dell PowerEdge servers where I run Proxmox, hosting single k3s Kubernetes node (on CoreOS) and various CentOS Stream and Windows VMs. I am a Windows sysadmin now but looking to better my professional Linux sysadmin skills and move into Linux sysadmin work.
In my Windows sysadmin job, I luckily am "the Linux guy" and do have some professional experience administering Graylog + ElasticSearch servers on CentOS 7 and GitLab on Debian.
I have some personal experience running containers via k3s, docker, and podman. I've also done some container builds for personal Python projects. I do like the container ecosystem and would like to learn more about okd/OpenShift. I also enjoy automation and write a lot of PowerShell automation at my current job, and would like to do the same with Ansible. I'm experienced with git (may not have the best practice or convention as my git usage has been mostly solo) but I have worked bugfixes for Ansible and rhinstaller/anaconda where I submitted code and did get it merged.
I am very interested in helping out with any kinda of automation and sysadmin tasks and have been following the Infra team and NOC Matrix. I can volunteer anywhere between 10-20 hours per week.
Hi Luke, You have some great skills. Have you been able to find an area of Fedora you would like to get more involved with? Please let us know if you would like to be introduced to anyone or any area. Wrapping your head around our upcoming Git system may be of interest https://fedoramagazine.org/fedora-moves-towards-forgejo-a-unified-decision/ ? Feel free to ask us anything you would like or need. Cheers, Mat
