Hello @dafium! Welcome to Fedora!
Before we begin, please subscribe to the Fedora join mailing list at fedora-join@lists.fedoraproject.org. We use this list for general discussion, and it is also where the community shares tasks that need help.
These links are a good read to begin with. They tell you what the Free/Open Source community is about, and then they'll introduce you to Fedora: what Fedora is all about, and what we do, and of course, how we do it:
Next, when you're ready, could you please introduce yourself (preferably on the list) so that the community can get to know you? (Interests, skills, anything you wish to say about yourself really).
Finally, could you let us know how you learned about the Fedora project? Was it from a colleague, or social media, for example?
If you have any questions at all, please ask! We'll use this ticket to keep in touch! :)
In addition, could you provide some information to understand your requirements better? (You can write them in the introduction, or answer here if you feel more comfortable).
For example:
your experience with Free/Open Source Software (FOSS) communities/ecosystems:
your background/skills, for example:
your experience in communication platforms:
how much time are you looking to/are you able to spend on volunteering (approximate hours per week)?
Remember that this is not a job interview at all. This is just an icebreaker to help all your new friends get to know you quicker. The better we know you, the better we can support you in identifying Fedora activities that promise to be relevant for you.
Please write how much/whatever you wish. :).
Hi, Belgian university student here but not in computer sciences! I'm currently studying philosophy, politics & economy bachelor, in fact Fedora helped me as I'm using it since I brought my laptop as my main operating system 1 year ago now :) I'm not studying computer sciences but I've acquired skills in it as I use computers since I'm 5 yo, I gradually learned to do more&more complex things. Earlier this year, I did HTB CTF Easy boxes & learned Rust. I unfortunately stopped due to lack of time (social life lol) but also I didn't knew what to code that could bring me self-fulfilment... But I rly wanna continue cause it can be so fun! I never participated in FOSS projects before but I can maybe give some hours a weeks as my schedule are really light as uni student (2h/day of ex cathedera bullshit courses).
What are my skills : - I am proficient in French, English & Dutch. - I already coded a lot in Python & coded a bit and willing to improve myself in low-level languages : Rust, C, C++, ... (I coded a bit in those langs). Indeed, i already used, CLI, git, sql, ... - How much time? This question but I would say that 3-5 hours a week is feasible during certain parts of the year.
Voilà! Thank you for reading me I would love to contribute to this amazing project ;) what's next? :o
Hello @dafium , great to meet you.
So, the idea is that the links that are in the ticket above will give you an overview of how the community works: where/what/how/why/when we do things. Hopefully, as you learn that, you'll find areas in the project that you'll find interesting/curious enough to join.
So, I guess the next step for you is to go through those links and see what you find interesting. If you have any queries/clarifications at all, please comment here (or ask on any of the community channels) and folks will help you out.

Hi dafium, I am a philosophy graduate. Open source is political. I am interested in Digital Sovereignty. Fedora help me in my daily life. Your skills are needed here.
If you are still interested in Fedora, I will do my best to find an area of interest and people to work with.
Feel free to PM me on Matrix @theprogram:fedora.im or reach out on the channels.
Best regards, Mat
Hi, thank you for your spontaneous answer! I appreciate it! Interesting to see that I'm not the sole philosophy-engaged person interested in Computers & Open Source more specifically!
Even if I switched to EndeavourOS as I had quite a lot of issues with my Fedora workstation (Can't install CUDA, slow GUI, visual artefacts, ... I still find Fedora really interesting (& still use it for my servers!) I'm indeed still interested to contribute to Fedora! Don't know how I could help though.

La chose la plus simple à laquelle je peux penser est la traduction.
Sorry for using a machine translator :) Je ne sais pas francais. Je suis australien.
If you are interested in coding, there are many small projects that make up Fedora.
Over the longer terms, your skills in politics, economics and philosophy (as well as an ability to use technology and code) qualify you for positions in governance and high level administration. There is also 'outreach' or 'advertising' or 'going to events' where an ability to talk to others is a great skill.
Something I am passionate about than many people know but cannot articulate is: why is open source political? How can open source really help people, businesses and countries be independent? And further: What is technology? How does technology fit the human ethical experience of the world? Is technology fascism? Can technology be ethical? These questions might not be day to day questions, they require people engaged with and following open source to speak up when needed, to guide the development of open source over the years. For this reason, being engaged and part of Fedora on any level at all keeps you in the game, where your real skills come out over a process of years.
If you ever want to consider Fedora on your home PC, those technical issue you mention could be worked out :) I see those issues regularly on discussion.fedoraproject.org
