#24 Welcome to Fedora! @p4r4xor
Closed: C: Inactive 3 years ago by nasirhm. Opened 4 years ago by alishapapun.

Hello @p4r4xor ! Welcome to Fedora!

Could you please introduce yourself so that the community can get to know you?
(interests, skills, how long you've been in Free/Open Source communities, what
distributions you've used, and so on?)

To start with, maybe these links would be a good read. They tell you what the
Free/Open Source community is about, and then it'll introduce you to Fedora:
what Fedora is all about, and what we do, and of course, how we do it:

If you have any questions at all, please ask! We'll use this ticket to keep in
touch! :)

Fedora is the first "official" organization I'll be contributing to. I'm proficient at Python, C and C++. Interested in Front-end development, and I have good knowledge about Linux kernel development. I've use a lot of distributions, Arch and Parrot OS being the most frequent ones. I'll be switching to Fedora soon once I've setup my work environment.I find the categories Packaging and Desktop categories from wcidff.org interesting too. I don't think my projects would matter (or maybe they would) in choosing a particular category, If they do, My best ones are an Implementation of a Quantum Algorithm with parallel computation and a stripped-down bash shell from scratch.

Hello @ankursinha
I've looked into some stuff and I'd like to contribute to the Fedora websites(WCIDFF and more in specific). PortingDB also felt awesome, but It'd be awesome if you can hook me up with some website tasks or some python scripting tasks for now.

So, I can't really assign tasks to you. That's not how volunteer driven communities work. I can point you to the tickets and you'll have to go through them and pick one that you want to work on. (Of course, community members will be able to help you understand what the requirements of tasks are, and their difficulty levels) :)

The main fedora-websites (https://getfedora.org) has quite a few tickets open:
https://pagure.io/fedora-websites/issues Have a look there to see if there's anything you could do? Ideally, the best thing to do is to introduce yourself to the websites group and ask the team there what tasks they need help with:

https://pagure.io/docs/fedora-websites/

WCIDFF is not a traditional website. It is a static website generated using Python:
https://github.com/fedora-infra/asknot-ng

There are a few issues there too, but there's a more general issue that's being discussed about wcidff:
https://discussion.fedoraproject.org/t/what-to-do-with-wcidff-warning/13302

What is PortingDB? I've not run into that recently.

how have you been? We haven't known about you for a long time? Have you look at WCIDFF? for example, have you had any problems? Have you found any interesting project to cooperate on according to your skills?

PS: this is progress check 2/3. If we get to 3 progress checks without receiving a reply, the ticket will be closed as "inactive".

Yes, I've taken up a couple of issues on the WCIDFF repo :)
I'm into web development for now, but concentrating on WCIDFF for now.

That sounds great. I'll update the tag of this ticket to reflect your status now.

Is there anything specific we can help with? Have you had a look at the discussion about wcidff that we'd linked to?
