#22 Welcome to mercellusb !
Closed: C: Inactive 3 years ago by nasirhm. Opened 4 years ago by hhlp.

Hello @mercellusb ! Welcome to Fedora!

Could you please introduce yourself so that the community can get to know you?
(interests, skills, how long you've been in Free/Open Source communities, what
distributions you've used, and so on?)

To start with, maybe these links would be a good read. They tell you what the
Free/Open Source community is about, and then it'll introduce you to Fedora:
what Fedora is all about, and what we do, and of course, how we do it:

If you have any questions at all, please ask! We'll use this ticket to keep in
touch! :)

Hello @mercellusb, welcome!
Please send a brief introduction (you will learn that basically every Fedora team's Standard Operating Procedure will require you to send a brief introduction, usually in the respective mailing list).

In the meanwhile, this is the firts mission for you https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/commops/contribute/first-steps/ 🙂

Hello Fedora community!

tl;dr I have used several Linux distributions. I worked for Red Hat for a few years and helped test RHEL High Availability on Microsoft Azure (mostly), AWS, GCP, and Alibaba. I wrote articles while at Red Hat that helped Red Hat subscribers understand how to deploy Red Hat products on these platforms. I use Fedora 31 as my main desktop OS on a Dell server. I'm a big fan of the Fedora project and would like to contribute.

Here is the long version from my LinkedIn profile.

I enjoy learning about new technologies, discovering how they work, and then helping customers understand how to use them.

Background / Tools

I can deconstruct highly complex and disjointed engineering design material in order to build logical, concise, and informative content for cloud application developers, network support engineers, hardware installation technicians, equipment operators, and software application users.

Stuff I can do: Project management, people management, content strategy, technical writing, copy editing, blended learning instructional design, technical training, technical illustrations, IT infrastructure (servers/switches/routers) installation and configuration guides, software application Help topics, cloud platform/cloud security/virtual machine/container installation and configuration guides, scientific/medical content, and process control operations procedures.

Things I know about (in no particular order): Apache Kafka, Confluent Operator, Confluent Platform, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Fedora, Kubernetes, OpenShift Container Platform, Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Alibaba Cloud (Aliyun), AWS Management Console and AWS CLI, Azure Portal and Azure CLI, Aliyun CLI, Google Cloud SDK, Azure Stack, high availability (HA) clusters, Ansible, Helm, python, JavaScript, JSON, Docker, SQL Server, git, GitHub, GitLab, Atom, reStructuredText, AsciiDoc, Markdown, MadCap Flare, Agile, XML, Cisco IOS, Pro/Engineer, SolidWorks, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, Captivate, AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Subversion, UNIX, and Visio.

Uh uh! This is a curriculum vitae 😅

You could consider to write some articles for Fedora Magazine
https://fedoramagazine.org/contribute-to-fedora-magazine/

Or to join the documentation team
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Docs_Project (some pages could be outdated)

And help people on Ask Fedora
https://ask.fedoraproject.org/

(These are only ideas)

Thank you. I will look into the different projects over the next few days and see where I would be a good fit.

Hello @mercellusb
There is an easy task in the field of documentation: fedora-join/Fedora-Join#181 "Add Welcome Image to fedora-join-docs".
It is pretty easy and could be useful to learn and practice working with the documentation workflow.

I've sent the same message also to @binayakbehera999, if both of you are interested, you could get in contact to collaborate.

Let us know if you are interested.

Hi @mercellusb : how are you doing? Have you had the chance to look around yet? How can we help?

how have you been? We haven't known about you for a long time? Have you contacted the documentation TEAM? have you had any problems?

fedora magazine and quick-docs are always a good way to start

PS: this is progress check 2/3. If we get to 3 progress checks without receiving a reply, the ticket will be closed as "inactive".

Hey @mercellusb , we haven't heard from you in quite some time, Did you find something interesting to cooperate on ? or did you had any problems ?

I'm marking this ticket as C: Progress Check 3 - Final and would be closing the ticket , Once we hear back from you on different platforms, we would update the ticket.

Hey @mercellusb If we don’t get a response in the next 7 days, we’ve not seen activity and we’ll have no choice but to close the ticket.

Closing the ticket is only a formal and operational to ask, then if you like, you can get in touch again with us using the various communication channels.

Please re-open the ticket whenever you wish and you can continue your journey into Fedora where you left off
