#200 Welcome to Fedora @roshan!
Opened 2 years ago by ankursinha. Modified a year ago

Hello @roshan ! Welcome to Fedora!

Before we begin, please subscribe to the Fedora join mailing list at
fedora-join@lists.fedoraproject.org
.
We use this list for general discussion, and it is also where the community
shares tasks that need help.

These links are a good read to begin with. They tell you what the Free/Open
Source community is about, and then they'll introduce you to Fedora: what
Fedora is all about, and what we do, and of course, how we do it:

Next, when you're ready, could you please introduce yourself (preferably on
the list) so that the community can get to know you? (interests, skills,
anything you wish to say about yourself really)

Finally, could you let us know how you learned about the Fedora project? Was it
from a colleague, or social media, for example?

If you have any questions at all, please ask! We'll use this ticket to keep in
touch! :)

Hello I am Roshan . I am an engineering student from India. I have completed my two years of B.tech and learnt some skills which are programming in C, C++,python, and few more . I am familiar with linux systems and using ubuntu as main os and fedora in a flash drive for fun. I am interested to contribute to open source. I tried a few times but found it tough or not having enough skills to contribute. I am eager to learn and further develop my skills and knowledge in the process. (I got to know about fedora project on web). Is this the list mentioned in the issue description??.

Hey @roshan how are you?
This ticket hasn't been updated for a while. This is a progress check. Did you find anything interesting? How is it going?

I've already submitted my profile and my skills, I couldn't find anything where I could start to contribute,I've followed the links above and learned about fedora a lot ,my interests are towards web development and Iot . Hoping to find something to start with.

Did you see this?

However I would say that "contributing" is not building a website from scratch. You could "lurk" the forum, and make suggestions if it is the case; you could find "bugs" in the websites, and submit a fix; in these ways you will start to know people and get in touch with other folks sharing your interests.

+1

People will not find work to give to you because we are not a corporate organisation with a hierarchy where people assign task to each other. We are a community of equals. So it is for you to hang around and see what's going on and see what you can help with. When something comes along that you think you can help with, all you have to do is say "I can work on this", and take it up. Everyone will be more than happy to help you do the task, but no one will message you to say "here, I'm assigning this to you" :)
