Hello @alexhaydock! Welcome to Fedora!
Before we begin, please subscribe to the Fedora join mailing list at fedora-join@lists.fedoraproject.org. We use this list for general discussion, and it is also where the community shares tasks that need help.
Then, could you please introduce yourself (preferably on the list) so that the community can get to know you? (interests, skills, anything you wish to say about yourself really)
In the meantime, these links would be a good read. They tell you what the Free/Open Source community is about, and then they'll introduce you to Fedora: what Fedora is all about, and what we do, and of course, how we do it:
If you have any questions at all, please ask! We'll use this ticket to keep in touch! :)

Hi!
I had missed this ticket for a long time in my inbox and only just discovered now while looking through Pagure that it is still here.
I'm Alex. I'm still very much interested in getting involved in the Fedora community where possible. My specific interests are around security and security tooling.
Quite specifically, I'm interested in packaging a few security-focused tools for Fedora which don't currently exist in the repositories, such as LAUREL or SysmonForLinux, and I'm quite interested in learning the processes around that to see if these tools can be progressed through the Red Hat ecosystem like:
COPR > Fedora > EPEL > RHEL
Beyond that, I also use Fedora day-to-day both for server and desktop use and I'm very interested in immutable systems like Fedora IoT and Fedora Silverblue.
Hi @alexhaydock , that's great to hear!
How are you with packaging? Is there anything we can help with there?
The docs on it all are here:

Thanks! I've packaged a few things before in COPR for my own use, but I might have some queries around packaging Rust packages that are available in Crates since it looks like there are some policies around that when it comes to inclusion in Fedora. I think there'll be quite a lot for me to learn though as I go through the process.
I'll read through the docs there and start following the steps to get ready to join in.
Sounds good. Yeh, one has to ensure that the package follows the Fedora guidelines. They're usually quite simple to for most packages. Please do use any of the communication channels when you have queries---lots of packages maintainers hang out on the matrix fedora devel channel, for example, who will be more than happy to help

Many thanks for the warm welcome and the assistance people have provided so far. I'm a big fan of the Fedora Community and especially of the people within it.
However, I think we can close this ticket. I've lost interest in taking on any Fedora Developer/Maintainership activities due to the recent changes made downstream by Red Hat which cut off RHEL rebuilds from source access.
I know that Fedora is somewhat independent from the Red Hat brand, but I only have so much time and energy to make contributions, and going forward I will be looking to focus my efforts on the Debian ecosystem instead.
Sure, sounds good. I'll close this now.
