#166 Welcome to Fedora @rasrbk!
Closed: C: Inactive 2 years ago by alciregi. Opened 2 years ago by ankursinha.

Hello @rasrbk ! Welcome to Fedora!

Before we begin, please subscribe to the Fedora join mailing list at
fedora-join@lists.fedoraproject.org
.
We use this list for general discussion, and it is also where the community
shares tasks that need help.

Then, could you please introduce yourself (preferably on the list) so that the
community can get to know you? (interests, skills, anything you wish to say
about yourself really)

In the meantime, these links would be a good read. They tell you what the
Free/Open Source community is about, and then they'll introduce you to Fedora:
what Fedora is all about, and what we do, and of course, how we do it:

If you have any questions at all, please ask! We'll use this ticket to keep in
touch! :)

Hello,

Can I make questions here too? Do I have to introduce myself again?

Yep, you can use this ticket to ask questions and provide feedback etc.

If you haven't sent an introduction to the join SIG mailing list, I'd do that too. it's just to make sure folks in the community know you're around. :)

Thanks for coming to the Neuro SIG meeting today. i hope that was somewhat useful.

Do take a look at the notes we've made here for you too:

Hello,

I subscribed to the mailing list and submitted a presentation, but I'm not sure if it worked correctly. Did you receive my submission email? I get introductions from other people but not my own. 🤔

Your e-mail was received. I tend to go to the web archives to check if I'm unsure:

You'll see your e-mail there :)

hi @rasrbk , how are you doing?

Have you had a chance to go through the instructions here yet?

https://pagure.io/neuro-sig/NeuroFedora/issue/478

How far have you got? Please let me know and then we can see what the next steps for you should be.

Hello!

I did the preparation steps, according to this document: 'Joining the Package Maintainers'.

Now I'm trying to follow steps from 'New Package Process for New Contributors'.

I'm trying to add myself to the mock group, with this command but nothing happens:

sudo usermod -a -G mock yourusername.

When I try to use the command '$ id'

I get this message on the terminal:

uid=1000(rasrbk) gid=1000(rasrbk) groups=1000(rasrbk),10(wheel) context=unconfined_u:unconfined_r:unconfined_t:s0-s0:c0.c1023

So, now I don't know what I have to do.

after running the usermod command, you need to log out and back in. Then, in the output of id, you'll also see mock listed as one of the groups=.

Thanks, I did it and I can see that I'm in the mock group now.

Now I'm following the steps of 'Creating an RPM package'

Hello @rasrbk
How are you? How are you doing?
This ticket is tagged as "mentored".
Are you willing to continue to explore the Fedora community outside the mentored project?
It will be great. But if not, I will close this ticket.
