#13 Welcome to Fedora, Ishaan!

Hi @ishaan , welcome to Fedora! It was good to speak to you on the channel. Could you introduce yourself here so that the community can get to know you better and help you get started?

Thanks for opening my first ticket. I am a final year undergrad student who keeps exploring projects and keeps contributing. I have worked on front-end on a few Open Source projects and I am happy o be a part of this community and contribute to Fedora.

Welcome @ishaan 🙂
Do you have some particular interest?
As you can imagine, Fedora is a wide environment [1] (and I'm not talking only about the operating system). There are not only developers, hackers or IT guys. You can find designers, storytellers, translators, bloggers, document writers, etc. So, there are various areas where you don't need technical skill.
My advice is to collect informations, read all around the project documentation (wiki [2], docs [3], the magazine [4], the community blog [5] and blog aggregator of contributors, called Fedora planet [6]). Just to get a sense of the community.

[1] https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/project/orgchart/ (note, it will be updated sooner or later)
[2] https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Fedora_Project_Wiki (note that the wiki contains a huge amount of outdated/unmaintained stuff)
[3] https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/project/
[4] https://fedoramagazine.org/
[5] https://communityblog.fedoraproject.org/
[6] http://fedoraplanet.org/

Don't be afraid of all that stuff!
See you soon.

Hey, sorry for the delay.
I just got started with looking out some projects by Fedora and here is what I peeped into.
Fedora app projects
I have previously contributed to some projects in front-end and currently curious to learn more and improve the Fedora apps. Ishaan Github.

Sure I am currently looking at the docs and learning many new things.

I am actually looking to contribute to Fedora for GSOC 2020.
I need some help with that @alciregi .

Weclome @ishaan

Maybe this project is not open yet in the fedora part, you can see example from the last GSOC 2019 and keep looking to it in the fedora discussion instance:

Hi @ishaan

How are you doing? Have you made any progress on going through the documentation that @alciregi suggested?

As for GSoC: some prior experience with the projects is always a good idea---it ensures that you already know a little about the project and that you'll be able to quickly get up to speed on whatever is required. It isn't meant to be like a general internship where one is taught how to do things. FOSS is almost mostly about self-teaching/self-learning. We can help with learning resources and answering questions, but you'll have to go through them and learn on your own.

Hey, sorry actually I got into the semester thing for some time.
I have started going through the docs now as I really want to do the GSOC
this time and also contribute with Fedora for long run.

How are you doing? Have you found a GSoC (or non GSoC) project related to Fedora to work on? You should introduce yourself to the mailing list if you have not already done so:

https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/summer-coding@lists.fedoraproject.org/

How can we help?
