Based on the discussion at the meeting, we agreed that:

• a mentor is - pretty much - someone that is your primary point of contact and helps you learn more about certain projects and the community in general, and also helps you link up with other mentors and community members
• not a classroom instructor or a teacher in the classical school/university sense

Note that the mentors in the Ambassador group are an extension of community mentors who also finally sponsor people to the Ambassadors group. This final sponsorship step will not be mandatory for community mentors. Of course, if they are also sponsors to teams, they can sponsor people anyway.
